One year after getting smashed in the BCS. Championship game to the Florida Gators the Ohio State Buckeyes are reloading once again after losing 11 starters. With the returning Quarterbacks having totaled 11 collegiate passes combined it will be interesting to see who emerges as a leader on head coach Jim Tressel’s team. Bodog has made the Ohio State Buckeyes 28 to 1 betting odds to win the 2008 BCS National Championship.
The Buckeyes will be a between the tackles running team this year. No team in college football lost more of their offensive arsenal than the Buckeyes. The new QB will be either junior Todd Boeckman, 6-5 235, or sophomore Robbie Schoenhoft. Both of these guys are big, smart and strong armed play callers that should be a capable replacement to last year’s Heisman winner QB Troy Smith.
The Buckeyes aren’t a flashy defensive team but they run a 4-3 that has some wrinkles that keep opposing Quarterbacks guessing. Up front Ohio State has some questions. One area that looks strong though is Defensive End with disruptive future NFL player Vernon Gholston, 6-4 260. Inside there is a potential run stuffing playmaker in athletic DT Doug Worthington, 6-7 275.
