Tommy Bowden’s Clemson Tigers meet father Bobby Bowden’s Florida State Seminoles in a primetime Labor Day ESPN televised game in Clemson’s Death Valley at Memorial Stadium with an 8:00 p.m. ET kickoff.

Oddsmakers at online sportsbook Bodog.com have installed the Seminoles -3 ½ point favorite ATS with a -165 ML price. Clemson is getting +145 ML juice as a home underdog. The totals prices are -105 for the OVER 45 and -115 for an UNDER wager. Early betting trends show the Seminoles are the preferred bet among gamblers with 66 percent of the side money (ATS) and 56 percent of ML wagers going their way. The total is expected to slip UNDER by 69 percent of the wagering public.

There are two key trends gamblers should take note of prior to making a wager on this game. The TOTAL has gone OVER in the last six games played between the Seminoles and Clemson has covered (ATS) four out of the last five games playing at home against them. The Tigers are also 10-3 SU in their last 13 games at home. 

The Seminoles had just six wins last year during the regular season, but they punctuated their mediocre season with a 44-27 win over the UCLA Bruins in the Emerald Bowl in San Francisco.

Clemson went on a six-game winning streak before collapsing down the stretch last year, and they eventually lost 28-20 to the Kentucky Wildcats in the Music City Bowl in Nashville, Tenn.

Tommy Bowden, needs a win desperately, especially after his teams meltdown in the later third of 2006. While this game has been labeled the Bowden Bowl it should be called the “Hot Seat Bowl” as neither father nor son can both afford another lack luster season.
