Georgia Bulldogs 2009 College Football Picks: After having their two top offensive players from a year ago chosen in the first 12 picks of the NFL draft, head coach Mark Richt and the University of Georgia will have to reload in 2009. The college football picks experts at online sportsbook SBG Global has the Georgia Bulldogs listed at +7500 odds to win the 2010 BCS National Championship Title.

#10 UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA
2008 Season Record: 10-3
2008 Final Rank: 10
Returning Starters on Offense: 7
Returning Starters on Defense: 6

Pros: Senior quarterback Joe Cox may not have the physical talent of the player he is replacing (NFL top pick Matthew Stafford), but he is an accurate passer and has a lot of experience in the offense. One advantage for Cox will be having dynamic receiver A.J. Green as a target.  Green caught 56 passes for 963 yards as a true freshman and could develop into one of the top receivers in the nation. The offensive line will also be strong, as they return all five starters from a year ago.  The strength of the defense will be at linebacker, where Rennie Curran leads the unit.

Cons: Overall, the defense was ineffective last season, as they ranked 59th in the country in scoring defense. The defensive line will be helped by the return of defensive tackle Jeff Owens, who missed last season due to a knee injury. Running back Caleb Green gained only 247 yards last season playing behind Knowshon Moreno.

Surprise Stat: Georgia averaged 30 more yards in penalties per game (72-42) than their opponents a year ago.

The college football picks odds makers at SBG Global have the Georgia Bulldogs +1000 odds favorites to win the SEC Conference Title.

Overall Outlook: The task of replacing Stafford and Moreno would appear to be a daunting one for Georgia, but the Bulldogs annually have a top 10 recruiting class, and are built to withstand the loss of key personnel. The real key to winning will be to improve a defense that must face several prolific offenses, including Florida, LSU and Oklahoma State. After having Green make an immediate impact at receiver a year ago, Georgia brought in three talented receivers that are all capable of seeing immediate action in Marlon Brown, Orson Charles and Rantavious Wooten.  The Bulldogs also made significant additions with top defensive backs Jordan Love, Brandon Smith and Shawn Williams.

Big Game: The Florida-Georgia game is always circled on the schedule, but the emotional level should be heightened considering that the two teams have traded emotional victories in the series over the last two years. With the game being played on Halloween, you can expect lots of tricks and treats coming from both teams.
