Michigan has the big name and they play in the Big House, but Connecticut is a basketball school – right? Ok, forget that, Connecticut has a pretty good football team too. No this isn't another Appalachian State either. UConn, a member of the BIG EAST Conference is climbing a ladder to college football elite status and it won't be long before they get there. Saturday afternoon (3:30 pm ET), Michigan will host the Huskies in a huge non-conference matchup for both schools.
A whole lot of negative attention has dominated headlines regarding the Michigan program while Connecticut has flown under the radar in spite of some pretty good success last year. This game is not a sure-thing for the Wolverines. The truth is, the wrong team could be the favorite.
The Huskies return eight starters on offense and eight on defense. The big question marks for UConn is in their defensive secondary. Their strongest point is their linebacking corps. Connecticut ended the season on a four game winning streak including a shocking upset of South Carolina in the Outback bowl.
This will be a fun game to watch. Michigan is a little bigger and faster but they can't overlook the Huskies. Some pundits are calling for an upset in this game. I'm not but it will be close. Michigan wins by four. Take Michigan and give the -3.
