Louisiana Lafayette vs Georgia 2010 College Football Picks

by Reno Gold on Saturday, September 4th, 2010

Louisiana Lafayette vs Georgia 2010 College Football Picks: The No. 23 ranked University of Georgia Bulldogs (SEC) will host the unranked Ragin' Cajuns of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia in the 2010 season football opener for both schools. The game will be televised on ESPN-GP and the SEC network (12:20 pm ET). Sportsbook.com has the Bulldogs listed as -28 1/2-chalk favorites ATS versus ULL with a 51 1/2 total.

TLouisiana Lafayette vs Georgia 2010 College Football Pickshe Bulldogs have won 12 of their last 13 season openers, the lone exception losing on the road to Oklahoma State 24-10 last year. Georgia has not lost a home opener since falling to Southern Miss 11-7 in 1996. The Bulldogs are 25-1 against non-conference foes at home.

Leading the Georgia offense against the Ragin' Cajuns will be redshirt freshman Aaron Murray. The 6-1, 209 pound quarterback won the starting job in the spring of this year. In the spring game, Murray was 8-of-19 for 96 yards. Helping the young quarterback in his debut will be five returning starters on the offensive line. This unit led the SEC with the fewest sacks allowed in 2009.

The showcase of Georgia's offense is All-SEC wide-out A.J. Green who finished second in the SEC receiving yards per game (80.8) and receptions per game (5.3). With four 100-yard receiving games under his belt, Green will be Aaron Murray's primary target. Look for Caleb King to be the primary ball carrier out of the backfield.

Georgia's switch to a 3-4 defense puts the spotlight on who will fill the role at nose. Junior Justin Anderson  has taken an early lead for the starting spot at nose after playing on the OL his first two years. The Bulldogs lost their top three defensive linemen in Jeff Owens, Geno Atkins and Kade Weston to the NFL.

UL has beaten only one ranked opponent in 24 tries, toppling No. 25 Texas A&M, 29-22, at Cajun Field in 1996, however, they did defeat Big 12 member Kansas State down in Lafayette last year.

Game Prediction: ULL is coming to play and with confidence. I am going to fade the Bulldogs and make them win big – but not big enough. Take ULL +28 1/2.
