Navy vs Ohio State College Football Odds, Picks & Predictions: The Navy Midshipmen have made the trek from Annapolis, Maryland to Columbus, Ohio to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes. The two squads will open their respective seasons at 12:00pm ET at Ohio Stadium. ESPN will broadcast the meeting live. College football odds at online bookmaker SBGglobal.com have the Buckeyes listed as a -22 against the spread home favorite. The Middies are coming off their fifth straight eight or better win Ken Niumatalolo, who is entering his second year as Head Coach at Navy, welcomes back 11 starters and 27 lettermen from last season's above average unit. The offense does lose leading rusher Shun White (1092 yards, eight touchdowns) and quarterback Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada. However, the run oriented, option-style attack should still hold up well with signal caller Ricky Dobbs working behind an experienced offensive line. Dobbs ranked third on the team in rushing last year with 495 yards; he also had eight rushing touchdowns. Defensively the Midshipmen have seven starters back from a group that allowed 22 points and 347 yards per game. The front seven should be solid with top tackler Ross Pospisil (LB) returning as well as leading sacker Matt Nechak (DE). The Buckeyes enter today's game ranked No. 6 in the nation. Jim Tressel's troops went 10-3 last year and earned a trip to the Fiesta Bowl, which they lost in 24-21 to Texas. Twelve starters are back for the coach, including quarterback Terrelle Pryor and defensive end Thaddeus Gibson. Despite the loss of halfback Chris "Beanie" wells, Ohio State should feature its typical, highly effective rushing attack with the dual threat Pryor under center. Pryor threw for 1311 yards and ran for 631 as a true freshman last year. The dynamic field general will be operating behind a less experienced offensive line, but one loaded with top shelf talent. The Buckeyes defense returns seven starters, but last season's leader on and off the field, linebacker James Laurinaitus, has moved onto the NFL. Even with the departure of Laurinaitus, the unit is rich with highly ranked recruits as well as upper classmen. If there is a drop off, it will not be significant. Look for the Buckeyes to keep their points per game allowed average under 15 once again. season after going 8-5 last year. Unfortunately for Navy, a quality campaign ended on a sour note as it lost 19-29 to Wake Forest (a team they beat 24-17 in the regular season) in the EagleBank Bowl.
