Colorado State vs Colorado College Football Predictions, Odds & Picks: The Buffaloes and Rams will hold their annual meeting tonight as the two squads kickoff their respective seasons. This evening's rivalry match up is schedueld to get underway at 7:00pm ET at Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado. College football predictions at Sportsbetting.com have the Buffs listed as a -10.5 against the spread home favorite.

The Dan Hawkins era has not gone according to plan at Colorado asColorado State vs Colorado College Football Predictions, Odds & Picks the coach has failed to put together a winning season in his three years with the program. Last season's Buffaloes disappointed yet again, closing out the year with a 5-7 record and fourth place finish in the Big 12 North.

Despite 2008's sub .500 mark, Colorado faithful have some reason for optimism heading into tonight's season opener. The Buffaloes return 13 starters (nine on offense) and 54 lettermen from a team that displayed occasional flashes of heading in the right direction.

Colorado produced a meager 20.2 points and 319 yards on offense last season, but that should change this year. The team has two great young running backs in Darrell Scott and Rodney Stewart, but both players had injury issues in 2008. Inspite of their problems, they still combined for 965 yards. Not only are they healthy now, they will be running behind an offensive line that returns nine of its top 10 players from a season ago.

The Buffs displayed their running potential in last year's pasting of the Rams. The ground game racked up 153 yards (4.3 yards per carry) in route to a 38-17 win, the most lopsided victory in this series in a number of years.

Despite last season's whitewash, Colorado State Head Coach Steve Fairchild and his Rams could be more than just fodder for Colorado in tonight's game. The team certainly had its ups and downs in 2008, but they finished with a 7-6 mark after beating Fresno State 40-35 in the New Mexico Bowl. Twelve starters and 45 lettermen are back in Fort Collins from that team.

The key for the Rams in tonight's game rests on the defensive side of the ball. If the front seven can step up and slow down the Buffaloes rushing attack, then this game will be there for the taking. If they are unable to do that, it will be a long night in Boulder for Fairchild and the Rams.
