The Seminoles racked up 481 yards in the easy win as quarterback Christian Ponder threw for 167 yards and four touchdowns.

Georgia Bulldogs vs South Carolina Gamecocks (-3): South Carolina opened its season with an impressive win over a quality Southern Miss squad as the Gamecocks prevailed 41-13. Steve Spurrier got a big night from his quarterback, Stephen Garcia, who completed 16-of-23 passes for 193 yards while also rushing for 38 yards and two touchdowns. SC did give up 23 first downs and 404 yards in the win, though, which means they had better shore things up against the Bulldogs. Georgia also cruised in its opener, smashing the Ragin' Cajuns of Louisiana-Lafayette 55-7. Redshirt freshman Aaron Murray had a nice debut, throwing for 160 yards and three touchdowns despite the absence of leading receiver A.J. Green. Green, by the way, has still not been cleared to play as the NCAA investigates the star wideout's alleged selling of a used game jersey.
