The Michigan Wolverines football team is reeling after suffering its second loss in as many weeks leaving some fans chanting "Fire Lloyd Carr" . At least on Saturday they lost to a team from a BCS Conference, the Oregon Ducks of the PAC-10. The Wolverines went into the game listed by oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com as 7-point favorites, but came out a 39-7 loser failing both SU and ATS. Before falling to Sub-Division Appalachian State last week, the Wolverines began the season as one of few teams considered likely to earn a national championship to a 100/1 odds long shot this week. The odds haven’t been updated from Saturday’s games but you can be assured, the Wolverines will be nowhere on the radar screen to win any championship. Perhaps if coach Lloyd Carr can rally his troops, they can win enough this season to earn a bid to the Music City Bowl, hardly their goal of destination in pre-season.
Following the ASU loss, Carr told the media the Wolverines were starting from scratch heading into Saturday's game against Oregon. Michigan must not have done so well with that idea as they went from the worst upset in history to victims of the worst home loss since falling to Michigan State 34-0 in 1967. Michigan hasn't lost its first two games to begin a season since 1959.
The good news for Michigan is they get Notre Dame next week and the Irish haven’t fared any better than the Wolverines. The Bad news is they might have to play without their (former) Heisman contender Chad Henne whom was reported to have left the Michigan locker room on crutches with a leg in a cast.
