Ohio State fans are hoping that was the case as the Middies nearly pulled off the upset at Ohio Stadium. Navy easily covered the +22.5 spread, losing 27-31. An errant throw by Midshipmen quarterback Ricky Dobbs on a two point converstion to tie the game saved the Buckeyes from potential humiliation. Star quarterback Terrelle Pryor finished the game 14-of-21 for 174 yards, a touchdown and an interception. The Trojans did anything but look past the San Jose State Spartans on Saturday, pounding them 56-3. USC racked up 621 yards of offense and ran for 342 at 7.6 yards per clip. True freshman quarterback Matt Barkley made Pete Carroll look like a genius, completing 15-of-19 for 233 yards and a touchdown. The USC defense showed strong as well, limiting the Spartans to a paltry 121 yards of offense. San Jose State managed just 31 rush yards on nine attempts for a 0.3 yards per carry average.
