Central Michigan vs Temple 2010 College Football Picks: The Central Michigan University Chippewas college football team begin defense of their three year reign as MAC football champions when they travel to play the 2010 MAC favorites Temple Owls in a Thursday night game that will be televised on ESPNU with a 7 pm start time.
BetOnline.com lists Temple as a touchdown (-7) favorite ATS while giving -290 on the money line. Chippewas' backers are getting +240 ML odds as the underdog. The posted total is holding at 47 1/2.
Both Temple and CMU got their 2010 campaign off with opening victories against NCAA Championship Subdivision opponents. CMU shut out Hampton, 33-0, last Thursday, while Temple was a 31-24 winner over Villanova, the No. 1-ranked team in the FCS and defending national champion.
This game will be the second played between the schools with CMU holding a 2-0 edge. In the teams’ first meeting on Nov. 4, 2006, CMU claimed a 42-26 win at Lincoln Financial Field. In their last meeting on Oct. 10, 2008, the Chippewas claimed a 24-14 Kelly/Shorts Stadium. The Owls’ offense mustered 301 total yards to the Chippewas 297, but four turnovers proved to be the Owls downfall.
It's no wonder Al Golden's Owls are favorites in this game. They are loaded, returning 21 starters including sophomore RB and Heisman Trophy candidate Bernard Pierce. The Chippewas
however, show up with 12 returning starters but under the leadership of a new coach, Dan Enos who was previously an assistant at Michigan State.
Forget about betting the point-spread in this game. The best bet here is the under-sized total. I think these teams will move the ball and score some points. I like the OVER (47 1/2) to score in this one.
