The Rice Owls will leave the weather in Houston behind and travel to Nashville,TN this weekend to face SEC member Vanderbilt. Both teams are coming off of quality wins and this contest should be an entertaining college football picks shootout. Sportsbook.com has the home team Commodores as a -7 favorite for the game , which kicks off at 7:00pm ET on Saturday night. 
Last weekend Rice continued their high scoring act as they handed fellow Conference USA member Memphis a 42-35 defeat in the Tigers own backyard. Quarterback Chase Clement threw for 318 yards on 44 attempts. Receivers Jarret Dilliard and James Casey were the recipients of the majority of Clements tosses as they combined for 19 catches and 274 yards.
The Rice defense did not perform as well, they allowed Memphis to crank out 523 yards of offense with 373 of that coming through the air.
Vanderbilt also comes in off a high, beating #25 South Carolina at home 24-17. The Commodores were out gained by 100 yards but some critical errors on the part of the Gamecocks left the door open for the win. Quarterback Chris Nickson made several big plays and his mobility helped the offense overcome a tough South Carolina defense.
This week the Commodores defense will get a big test trying to contain Casey and Dilliard. Last week they sacked South Carolina quarterback Chris Smelley four times and they will need to put some heat on Chase Clements Saturday if they hope to keep Rice from piling up too many points.
