One of the most storied rivalries in college football will resume this Saturday when the Michigan Wolverines travel to South Bend, Indiana to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Michigan has been unimpressive thus far under new Head Coach Rich Rodriquez . After falling at home to Utah to open the season, the Wolverines pulled out a 16-6 win against Miami of Ohio. The Red Hawks did not do much against the Michigan defense, but they did hold the ball for over 35 minutes. Defensively they shut down Rodriquez's spread offense. Michigan produced just 103 yards through the air.
Notre Dame is suppose to be one of the most improved teams in college football this season, but they did not look like it last week at home against San Diego State.
The Aztecs lost their opening game 27-29 to Cal-Poly, but they actually took a 13-7 lead into the fourth quarter against the Irish. Notre Dame finally prevailed 21-13 but they did not come anywhere near covering the -20.5 spread.
Charlie Weiss' troops only created 105 yards on the ground (3.1 yard per carry average) and they also had four turnovers. Quaterback Jimmy Clausen did throw three touchdown tosses, but he also cost his team by throwing two interceptions as well.
