No. 7 ranked Oregon travels to play unranked Tennessee in Knoxville, in a Week-2 Pac-10/SEC battle at Neyland Stadium. Oregon is getting plenty of attention by pundits nationally following their week-1 72-0 beat down of New Mexico in Eugene. Meanwhile, Tennessee isn't getting much respect, from oddsmakers, listed as double-digit home underdogs. The Vols defeated Tennessee-Martin 50-0, a FCS school from the Ohio Valley Conference in week-1.
Chip Kelly is in his second season at Oregon and overall with a record of 11-3 (.786). Derek Dooley is in his first season at Tennessee and in his fourth season overall with a record of 18-20 (.474).
Kenjon Barner replaced the suspended running back LaMichael James for the 11th ranked Ducks and ran for a career-high 147 yards and four touchdowns before catching another score as Oregon opened the season with a 72-0 rout of New Mexico on Saturday. Barner was the star with 225 all-purpose yards. His one catch was a 60-yard scoring strike from Thomas in the second quarter. Quarterback Darron Thomas, making his debut as the Oregon starter, completed 13 of 23 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns.
Junior Tauren Poole made his first start and led the charge on the ground for Tennessee, scoring a pair of touchdowns and finishing with a career-high 110 yards on 17 carries. Sophomore David Oku, who mainly served as a return specialist as a freshman, set a new career high in rushing with just one run: a 44-yard breakaway touchdown in the first quarter.
Junior Matt Simms made his debut at quarterback for the Vols, completing 14 of 24 passes for 181 yards and 1 touchdown. In his junior slate, Luke Stocker’s numbers increased by 16 receptions, 250 yards, and five touchdowns.
Oregon is a huge trendy pick by just about everybody with a microphone in front of a camera. I can't help it but I really like the Vols new defensive coordinator, Justin Wilcox, who came to the Vols after several years in the same job at Boise State. Again, I'm going to stick my neck out and go against the popular bet. I like Tennessee +11.Bet on sports at internet sportsbook SBG Global and receive up to 295% in Cash Bonuses and start winning today!
