Notre Dame vs Michigan College Football Picks, College Football Predictions & College Football Odds: The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Michigan Wolverines will renew college football's oldest rivalry when they meet at 3:30pm ET (ABC) this afternoon in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines led the series 20-15, but the Irish have closed the gap in recent seasons and they got the better of things last year with a 35-17 route in South Bend. The Fighting Irish had an impressive start to the season, pounding a solid Nevada squad 35-0 at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend last Saturday. The fact that the Irish scored 35 points was no sursprise, but their holding an offense that averaged over 37 points per game in 2008 to zero, well, that garnered some attention.

The Wolf Pack finished the game with 307 yards, and while they did rack up 153 on the gorund (5.3 yards per carry), three turnovers prohibited them from finding pay dirt. Charlie Weis' troops took advantage of Nevada's miscues with a well balanced offensive attack.

Jimmy Clausen and company kept the ball away from the Pack by throwing for 332 yards and rushing for 178. They also converted 50 percent of their third down opportunities. Clausen finished the day with 315 pass yards and four touchdowns.

Michigan also had a stellar debut to the season, thumping in-state rival Western Michigan 31-7 at the Big House. Embattled Head Coach Rich Rodriguez got all he could have hoped for out of his two freshman quarterbacks, Tate Forcier and Denard Robinson. Forcier burned the Bronocs through the air, completing 13-of-20 passes for 179 and three touchdowns while Robinson got things done on the ground with an 11 carry, 74 yard performance. Robinson also scored the Wolverines lone rushing touchdown with a 43 yard scamper in the first quarter.

Michigan's defense got the job done against a capable Broncos offense, limiting Western Michigan to 38 yards rushing (1.6 yards per carry) and forcing three turnovers.

College Football Picks Trend: Michigan is 4-1 straight up and 3-2 against the spread in their last five games at home against the Irish.
