The Trojans fell 31-14 last week to Bowling Green as a seven point favorite; the loss could not have been a good confidence boost for a team heading into the Swamp. Troy did not look good last Saturday at Bowling Green, blowing their
season opener 31-14 at Perry Stadium. Most pundits expected the Trojans to get the win against a Falcons squad returning just 10 starters and 39 lettermen. Larry Blakeney's troops, however, could not get anything going on offense and they could not slow down Bowling Green's aerial assault.
Trojans quarterback Levi Brown completed 28-of-44 passes for 263 yards and a touchdown, but he also threw two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Troy could ill afford the two mistakes by the senior signal caller as its run game produced a meager 41 yards.
The Falcons did not do much on the ground either, but they did not need to. Bowling Green quarterback Tyler Sheehan and wide receiver Freddie Barnes (15 catches, 157 yards, two touchdowns) abused the Trojans secondary, teaming up to lead the Falcons to 339 pass yards.
Florida picked up where they left off in January, pasting FCS cream puff Charleston Southern 62-3 at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium last Saturday. The Gators held the ball just 22:26 but managed to rack up 624 yards of offense in that time (over 27 yards per minute).
Former Heisman winner Tim Tebow completed 10-of-15 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown while the Florida rushing attack produced 369 yards (11.2 yards per carry). Three Gators had over 75 yards rushing on the day.
The Buccaneers did top the 300 yard mark against Florida's vaunted defense, but they needed 37:34 to do it.
