NCAA Point Spreads 2012 Week 3

ucla jonathan franklinNCAA Point Spreads 2012 Week 3 features several games which have college football fans asking the proverbial ‘are they for real?’ question. One such contest has the newly ranked UCLA Bruins taking on the Houston Cougars at the Rose Bowl. Jim Mora Jr’s squad flew into the season under the radar after several lackluster years under the watch of Rick Neuheisel, but after last week’s 36-30 win over Nebraska, it is now garnering some attention. The latest College Football Point Spreads have the Bruins listed as a rather steep -17 against the spread home favorite, a number which may deter some given Houston’s solid performance for the better part of the last six seasons.

Houston Cougars vs UCLA Bruins (-17): The Bruins raised few eyebrows with their 49-24 week one pounding of Rice, but their dominating offensive performance against Nebraska caught the attention of fans and pollsters alike. UCLA racked up 653 yards in the 36-30 win and it appears to have a dynamic duo on offense in quarterback Brett Hundley and running back Jonathan Franklin. Hundley threw for 305 yards and four touchdowns last weekend while Franklin recorded his second consecutive 200-plus yard outing (26 carries for 217 yards). Now the Bruins face a potent offensive team in the Cougars, but they should have little difficulty finding the end zone against a Houston defense that has yielded 86 points in its first two games. This is a classic sandwich game for UCLA, coming off a big non-conference affair with the Huskers and before it opens its Pac-12 slate against Oregon State next weekend. Should the Bruins blast the Cougars in a potential ‘letdown’ spot, it is safe to assume they are a bigger Football Picks threat than most believed before the season kicked off.
