Despite tomorrow night's game being a home affair for Chris Relf and company, it will not be any easier than last week's meeting with Auburn. LSU has owned Mississippi State for the better part of two decades, losing to the Bulldogs just one time since 1992. The Tigers current win streak against their divisional rival hit 11 games with last year's 29-7 victory (five MSU turnovers) in Baton Rouge.
Four of the last five games between these two teams in Starkville have been blowouts in LSU's favor with the Tigers winning by an average 31.2 points per contest. The 2009 meeting was much closer, though, with Miles' crew escaping 30-26.
Through two games LSU has looked like the more sound team, earning wins over Oregon (40-27) and Northwestern State (49-3), but the Bulldogs are certainly on a level playing with the Tigers in terms of talent. Given the closing talent gap, expect the Bulldogs to be in this one for four quarters, in fact, despite all the recent history, the wrong team is favored here.
