College Football Odds Week 3: This Thursday marks the third week of the college football season as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets take on conference rival Miami at Landshark Stadium in Florida. That game is just one of many great pairings as the Texas Tech Red Raiders meet the Texas Longhorns, the Nebraska Cornhuskers face the Virginia Tech Hokies, and the Florida State Seminoles square off against the BYU Cougars. In, perhaps, the week's biggest match up, College Football Odds Week 3 at BetUS.com have the Cornhuskers listed as a +4.5 against the spread dog versus Virginia Tech. Last year's meeting between the Hokies and the Huskers all came Nebraska has yet to play anybody of consequence this season, but their ability to run the ball has produced blowout wins against both Florida Atlantic and Arkansas State. The Huskers ran for 259 yards versus the Owls at 8.1 yards per clip and they had 136 rush yards (4.9 yards per carry) versus the Red Wolves. Tailback Roy Helu Jr. has done most of the damage, racking up 212 yards and three touchdowns in 30 carries this season. Virginia Tech struggled moving the ball against Alabama in their week 1 loss to the Crimson Tide. The Hokies clearly missed Darren Evans, despite a solid effort from Ryan Williams. The team totaled just 64 rush yards in that game while giving up 268. They rebounded last weekend by stampeding the Thundering Herd of Marshall. Tech ran for 444 yards (8.4 yards per carry) while yielding 126. The Huskers defense may not be the equal of Alabama's but it is assuredly better than Marshall's and most likely better than the one Tech faced last year. Whichever team wins the battle upfront will win this game. College Football Odds Week 3 Betting Trend: The Under is 8-1 in Virginia Tech's last nine games as a home favorite with a spread between 4 and 7.5. Nebraska is 1-5 straight up in their last six games as a road dog with a spread between 4 and 7.5. down to the ground game. Virginia Tech scored a decisive advantage in that department, compiling 206 rushing yards to Nebraska's 55. Consequently, Frank Beamer's squad left Lincoln with a 35-30 victory.
