California came into the season under the radar after disappointing last season with an 8-5 record. The Golden Bears are

Jeff Tedford's squad produced 873 total yards in the two wins while allowing just 320. Quarterback Kevin Riley has been superb thus far, completing 29-of-44 passes for 455 yards, seven touchdowns, and no interceptions. Riley's 205.27 passer rating currently ranks third in the nation, leaving him behind only Northwestern's Dan Persa and Fresno State's Ryan Colburn.
Nevada, which is desperate to gain some national respect, comes into this contest with a 2-0 record after drubbing Eastern Washington 49-24 and Colorado State 51-6. The Wolf Pack posted a ridiculous 631 yards and 33 first downs in last weekend's win over the Rams as quarterback Colin Kaepernick and running back Vai Taua combined for 279 rush yards and three rushing scores. Kaepernick also threw for 241 yards (21-of-29) and two touchdowns in the lopsided victory.
While the Bears defense has been excellent through two games, they have not faced an offense like Nevada's yet. Kaepernick is arguably the best dual-threat quarterback in the country and his skill set will provide a significant test for Cal and new defensive coordinator Clancey Pendergast.
