The Rutgers Scarlet Knights probably wish they could rewind the season after getting off to an ugly 0-2 start. Head Coach Greg Schiano and his troops, who have been pounded twice at home, will hit the road to take on the Navy Midshipmen in Annapolis, Maryland. The game starts at 3:30pm ET on Saturday and college football betting odds at Sportsbook.com have the Midshipmen as a +6 home underdog.
Rutgers quarterback Mike Teel is having a horrendous senior season thus far. He has been unable to move the offense and his penchant for turnovers put his team behind the eight ball against Fresno State and North Carolina. Teel tossed three interceptions against the Tar Heels last week that led to a bloated 44-12 score in favor of UNC.
The Scarlet Knights are still trying to find their way on offense as they transition to more of a passing oriented attack. Schiano figured that Teel was ready to lead the team after running back Ray Rice departed to the NFL. To this point Teel has been unable to produce a lot of points as the new offensive leader.
The Midshipmen are sitting at 1-2 after tough losses to Ball State and Duke. Navy carried a lead into halftime last week against the Blue Devils, but gave up 21 points in the second half while they were only able to score seven.
It is no secret that the Midshipmen will attempt to run the ball on Rutgers and mix in a few passes to surprise. On the season, the Knights have yielded 363 yards on the ground in 77 attempts against them (4.7 yard per carry average).
Rutgers vs Navy Betting Odds Trend: Rutgers is 7-3 straight up in their last 10 games as a road favorite.
Sportsbook.com's Rutgers vs Navy Betting Odds:
Rutgers Scarlet Knights -6 (-110)
Navy Midshipmen +6 (-110)
