Nebraska came into the season with one major question mark, that being did it have a quarterback capable of guiding it t
o a BCS bowl game. At least through two games, Head Coach Bo Pelini appears to have found the answer in sophomore signal caller Taylor Martinez.
Martinez has been superb in leading Nebraska to wins over Western Kentucky (49-10) and Idaho (38-17), throwing for 242 yards while rushing for 284 yards and five touchdowns in 21 carries.
Martinez, who rushed for 157 yards and two scores in last weekend's win over the Vandals, led the Huskers to 471 yards even after the team committed 10 penalties and lost three fumbles.
Nebraska's defense played well too, limiting Idaho to 279 yards and a 1.6 yards per carry average. The Black Shirts also sacked Vandals quarterback Nathan Enderle seven times and picked him off five.
Washington bounced back from its season opening loss at BYU with a 41-20 win over Syracuse in Seattle last Saturday. The Huskies offense erupted for 467 total yards in the victory as Heisman candidate Jake Locker completed 22-of-33 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns. Wide receiver Jermaine Kearse also had a tremendous outing, catching nine passes for 179 yards and three touchdowns.
Locker and Kearse connected on scoring strikes of 57 and 28 yards in the third quarter to build on the slight 13-10 advantage the Huskies carried into the break.
Tomorrow's game is the eighth meeting between these two schools with the all-time series tied 3-3-1. The Huskers dominated the last two contests, though, beating Washington 27-14 in 1997 (Seattle) and 55-7 in 1998 (Lincoln).
2010 College Football Predictions Betting Trend: Washington is 6-1 straight up and against the spread in its last seven games as a home dog with a total between 51.5 and 54.
