Notre Dame vs Michigan State 2010 College Football Predictions, Odds & Picks

by Matt Foust on Friday, September 17th, 2010

Notre Dame vs Michigan State 2010 College Football Predictions, 2010 College Football Odds & 2010 College Football Picks: Notre Dame heads to East Lansing tomorrow to meet a familiar foe in the Michigan State Spartans. The two rivals are scheduled to kick things off at 8:00pm ET at Spartan Stadium; the game will be broadcast live on ABC. 2010 College Football Predictions, Odds & Picks at BetOnline.com have the Spartans listed as a -3.5 against the spread home favorite and the Over/Under set at 54.

Notre Dame fell to 1-1 under new Head Coach Brian Kelly after a late Michigan touchdown gave the Wolverines a 28-24 Notre Dame vs Michigan State 2010 College Football Predictions, Odds & Picksvictory last Saturday in South Bend. The Fighting Irish had no shortage of offense in the loss, racking up 535 yards and 23 first downs, but they could do nothing to stop Michigan signal caller Denard Robinson.

Robinson abused the Notre Dame defense, throwing for 244 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 258 and two scores. In addition to its troubles with Robinson, the Irish also finished minus three in turnover margin after tossing three interceptions.

Starting quarterback Dayne Crist, who missed time in the game with blurred vision (hit his head on the ground), threw for 244 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while his backups, Nate Montana and Tommy Rees, combined to complete 8-of-19 passes for 104 yards and two picks.

Michigan State improved to 2-0 last weekend, beating Florida Atlantic 30-17 in East Lansing. The win defied football logic as the Owls somehow held the ball for 37:33 despite rushing for just 45 yards at a 1.3 yards per carry clip. Meanwhile, the Spartans, which had 17 first downs and converted a pathetic 1-of-7 on third down, rushed for 225 yards on 30 carries.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 9-of-17 passes for 142 yards, one touchdown, and an interception, giving him a 164 passer rating for the season. Sophomore running back Edwin Baker starred in the game, rushing 15 times for 183 yards and one score. Baker's touchdown came on an 80 yard run in the third quarter that gave Michigan State a 27-7 lead.

The Spartans have won nine of the last 13 games in this series, but the Irish got the better of things last year in South Bend, winning 33-30. Jimmy Clausen threw for 300 yards and two touchdowns in the victory, helping Notre Dame overcome 11 penalties and a 22 yard yardage deficit.

2010 College Football Predictions Betting Trend: Notre Dame is 0-6 straight up (3-3 against the spread) over the last five seasons playing as a road dog coming off a home loss (Under 5-1).
