College Football Odds Week 4

It’s always a good idea to take a look at all of the odds to start to weed out the matchups you don’t like and to start to rate the ones you do like. I usually tries to get his week 4 college football odds reviewed and bet by Wednesday at the latest for each week’s slate of games to beat any late line movements that can have a way of biting you in the butt.

There are some good matchups in the making for week 4 college football. The Penn State versus Michigan Big Ten opener is of great interest to me. Penn State has been cleaning up its opponents during the non-conference season while Michigan has struggled its way to a 1-2 start. However, last week’s big win over Notre Dame has the Wolverines less than field goal dogs at home against the Nittany Lions. Even though Notre Dame is terrible, the books are still not convinced that Michigan is going to be a flop this year based on this line. Iowa heads to Wisconsin as touchdown dogs. Keep in mind that the Hawkeyes just lost to a team that they were 17.5-point favorites against. The books obviously didn’t give enough consideration to how big of a rivalry the Iowa versus Iowa State game is. So really, despite enduring a terrible loss the Hawks are still right about where they would be line wise in Madison this weekend.

This game is critical as Wisconsin is likely the toughest opponent the Hawks will play in 2007 as they don’t have Michigan and Ohio State on their schedule. A win here for Iowa could mean at least a share of the conference title and it could cost the Badgers a Big Ten title. It doesn’t get any better than a Big Ten opener with title hopes already on the line. BetUs.com has made the Wisconsin Badgers -7.5 point home favorites.

Based on the week 4 college football odds in these two matchups I have highlighted, bookmakers are telling us that conference season is a different story than the non-conference season. We’ll find out in week 4 of college football if the dogs can prove to be just as tough as the favs in these Big Ten matchups.
