The Utes won their 20th straight regular season game last Saturday, getting by the San Jose State Spartans 24-14 at Spartan Stadium. The Utah offense produced 499 yards, getting good balance from both the run (251) and pass (248). Junior quarterback Terrance Cain led the way with an 18-of-31, 248 yard, one touchdown performance. Cain also had 10 carries for 76 yards, making him one of four Utes to gain over 40 yards on the ground.

The Utah defense held the Spartans to three of 12 on third down and 264 total yards. San Jose State managed just 22 rushing yards and held the ball for only 27:42.

Oregon rebounded from their ugly, season opening loss in Boise with a 38-36 win in Eugene over the Purdue Boilermakers. Chip Kelly had to feel fortunate to escape Autzen with his first career win as Purdue had more first downs, yards, and third down conversions than did his Ducks.

Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli did not have an outstanding day passing, completing 11-of-21 passes for 163 yards, but he had 14 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown. Masoli's rushing effort was supplemented by a nine carry, 56 yard performance from redshirt freshman LaMichael James.

The Ducks defense got roughed up for 451 yards, 281 of which came on the ground. Running back Ralph Bolden had 29 carries for 129 yards and two touchdowns against the unit. Had it not been for two interception tosses from Purdue signal caller Joey Elliott, Kelly might still be looking for his first career win.

College Football Predictions Betting Trend: Oregon is 2-8 against the spread and 4-6 straight up in their last 10 games as a home favorite with a spread between 4 and 7.5. Utah is 2-3 against the spread and 1-4 straight up playing as a road dog with a total between 51.5 and 54. The Under is 0-5 in those games.
