Iowa State vs Kansas State 2010 College Football Odds, 2010 College Football Picks & 2010 College Football Predictions: Iowa State takes on Big 12 North rival Kansas State this afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The neutral site conference clash, which is referred to as Farmaggeddon, is scheduled to get underway at 12:00pm ET. 2010 College Football Odds, Picks & Predictions at Bodog.com have the Wildcats listed as a -4 against the spread favorite; the Over/Under is set at 54.
Last year marked the first meeting between these two schools at Arrowhead, and the venue provided one of the most
exciting Big 12 conference tilts of the season. Kansas State won the contest 24-23 but only after blocking what would have been a game tying extra point in the final minute of regulation.
Today Iowa State will look to avenge that setback as well as overcome the one it experienced last weekend in Iowa City. The Cyclones, which beat Northern Illinois 27-10 in their season opener, got drilled by in-state rival Iowa 35-7 at Kinnick Stadium.
Quarterback Austen Arnaud, who threw two touchdown passes in last year's loss to KSU, had a horrific afternoon against the Hawkeyes, completing 20-of-44 pass attempts for 197 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. Arnaud's three giveaways led to a paltry 15 first downs and 275 total yards for Paul Rhoads squad.
The Cyclones defense did not fare any better as the Iowa offense averaged 10.2 yards per pass and 5.5 yards per carry in route to 479 total yards.
Kansas State ran its record to 2-0 last weekend with a 48-24 win over FCS program Missouri State. The Wildcats finished the game with 493 total yards as quarterback Carson Coffman threw for 280 (three touchdowns) and tailback Daniel Thomas rushed for 137.
While Coffman put together his best performance ever as a Wildcat last weekend, Head Coach Bill Synder will, no doubt, lean on Daniel Thomas in this afternoon's clash with the Cyclones. Thomas, who rushed for 235 yards and two scores in K-State's season opening win against UCLA, is the engine that drives the offense.
Iowa State, which gave up an average of 166 rush yards per game a season ago and has allowed an average of 215 in its first two games this year, can expect to see Thomas early and often as Synder attempts to bludgeon the Cyclones banged up front seven.
2010 College Football Odds Betting Trend: Iowa State is 2-8 straight up and 3-7 against the spread in its last 10 games playing as an underdog against a Big 12 opponent with a spread between 4 and 7.5.
