Michigan State suffered a surprising home loss last weekend as theMichigan State vs Notre Dame College Football Predictions, Picks & Odds Central Michigan Chippewas came into Spartan Stadium and scored a 29-27 victory. Mark Dantonio's squad did not get the win, nor did they deserve to. The Chippewas had more first downs, more yardage, more third down conversions, and fewer penalties than did the Spartans.

Michigan State finished the game with 17 first downs and 316 yards. Quarterback Kirk Collins had a nice showing, completing 13-of-18 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown. Running back Caulton Ray also performed decently, toting the ball 16 times for 51 yards and a score.

The Spartans defense, however, got abused for 27 first downs and 418 yards. Michigan State could do little to slow down Chippewas quarterback Dan LeFevour, who threw for 328 yards and three touchdowns.

Notre Dame also suffered a heart-breaking loss as Michigan's freshman quarterback Tate Forcier found Greg Mathews from five yards out with just 00:11 left in regulation. The touchdown gave the Wolverines a 38-34 win in a game that went back and forth for four quarters.

The Irish offense churned out 490 yards as well as 27 first downs. The ground game averaged 5.4 yards per carry and quarterback Jimmy Clausen had his way against the Michigan secondary. Clausen completed 25-of-42 passes for 336 yards and three touchdowns.

The Notre Dame defense, however, could not get a stop when they needed it most. Michigan racked up 430 total yards against the unit and ran for five yards per carry on its way to 190 rush yards.
