Purdue Boilermakers vs Minnesota Golden GophersAfter suffering its second gut-wrenching setback of the young season, the Minnesota Golden Gophers return home to the Minneapolis Metrodome looking to get their season headed back in the right direction in the seasons first BIG TEN action against the high flying Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday in a game to be televised by ESPN2 with kickoff at 9 p.m. ET.

The Boilermakers are favored by a -13 ½ point chalk according to oddsmakers at online sports wagering leader Sportsbook.com. Both teams combined are expected to put plenty of points on the scoreboard and the total line reflects it having been set at 71. Betting trends show 72 percent of early totals wagers are placed on the OVER while 93 percent of side bets are on the Boilermakers.

While Minnesota will be looking for a quick bounce-back following its 3-point loss last week at Florida Atlantic, Purdue will be out to keep the early-season momentum of it undefeated start in tact. The Boilermakers are coming off a 45-22 win over Central Michigan.

Minnesota finds itself in a familiar position as the Golden Gophers enter the week looking for their second quick rebound of the young season. The Gophers made good on their last opportunity, regrouping from a tough overtime loss in the season opener against Bowling Green to pull out a thrilling, triple-overtime win over Miami (Ohio) in week two. Admittedly, the stakes are a bit higher this time around with the start of the BIG TEN season for both schools.

Much of the production has come via the arm of senior quarterback Curtis Painter, who leads the Big Ten in both passing yards per game (317.32) and passing efficiency (172.8 rating). Painter has completed 81 of 118 passes (68.6 percent) for 952 yards and 13 touchdowns this season and has yet to toss an interceptions. Senior Dorien Bryant has been the recipient of many of those throws and has hauled in 20 receptions for 218 yards on the year to rank second in the league. The Boilers rushing attach is led by senior Kory Sheets (87.7 ypg) and junior Jaycen Taylor (65.7 ypg).
