The top-ranked USC Trojans host the Washington State Cougars at the Los Angeles Coliseum tonight as the schools open PAC-10 action in an ABC televised football game. The game kicks off at 8 p.m. ET.
Washington State (2-1) enters the contest riding a modest two-game winning streak, having earned wins over Idaho and San Diego State after dropping the season-opener at No. 5 Wisconsin. The Trojans will bring a 2-0 record into Saturday's contest after a 49-31 victory at Nebraska last Saturday. USC opened the season with a 38-10 home win over Idaho.
Oddsmakers at online sports wagering leader Sportsbetting.com have installed the Trojans heavy home favorites with a -25 point chalk and a 63 ½ total. Betting trends show USC drawing the early betting interest getting 79 percent of the wagers while 54 percent look for the total to go OVER.
“We're facing a really good looking offensive football team, led by Alex Brink, USC head coach Pete Carroll said. “We're seeing a guy that knows how to run this offense, and it's a very good schematic offense that takes advantage of the field and spreading you out, all of the things they know how to do. And he's hot as a pistol right now.” “This is a big challenge for us,” Carroll commented. “We're hopefully going to be able to get it right and get underway with this game plan so we can get ourselves off to a good start in the conference.”
