Miami vs Pittsburgh 2010 College Football Picks, 2010 College Football Predictions & 2010 College Football Odds: The Miami Hurricanes are in the Keystone State this week for a non-conference meeting with the Pittsburgh Panthers. The game is scheduled to get underway at 7:30pm ET tomorrow night at Heinz Field; it will be broadcast live on ESPN. 2010 College Football Picks, Predictions & Odds at Sportsbook.com have the Hurricanes listed as a -3 against the spread road favorite and the Over/Under is set at 51.
Miami was out of action last weekend and it was probably a good thing as the Hurricanes needed to do a little wound
licking after getting beat 24-36 at Ohio State on September 11th.
The Hurricanes moved the ball farely well, finishing the game with 352 total yards; however, they could not overcome a dreadful outing from quarterback Jacory Harris. Harris threw for 232 yards and one touchdown, but he also tossed four interceptions, including three in the first half.
Miami's defense did not turn in a good performance at Ohio Stadium either, giving up 414 yards to Terrelle Pryor and the Buckeyes offense. The Hurricanes also missed a number of tackles in the loss, prompting more fundamentals work during the off week.
"You just keep working on it," Head Coach Randy Shannon said in regard to proper tackling technique. "It's grab cloth, knock a guy back, have guys spin and twist and just grab cloth the whole time."
Pittsburgh also comes into tomorrow's game off a bye week and with a 1-1 record as well. The Panthers opened the year with a 24-27 loss at Utah, but rebounded with a 38-16 win over New Hampshire on the 11th.
Pitt's offense posted 445 total yards against the Wildcats as quarterback Tino Sunseri completed 24-of-34 for 275 yards, two touchdowns, and one pick. The team still failed to get running back Dion Lewis going, though, with the sophomore rushing for just 27 yards on 10 carries. Lewis, who had 75 yards in 25 carries against the Utes, saw backfield mate Ray Graham do most of the damage to New Hampshire's defense, racking up 115 yards in nine touches.
In addition to Lewis' woes, the team is also dealing with the loss of 2009 Defensive Player of the Year in defensive end Greg Romeus. Romeus, who had surgery on a herniated disc late last week, will be out a minimum of six weeks.
2010 College Football Picks Betting Trend: Pittsburgh is 6-0 against the spread and 5-1 straight up in its last six games as a home underdog with a total between 47.5 and 51.
