The Bruins jumped on the Cougars early and went into the break with a surprising 21-3 lead after touchdown runs of 11 and one yard.

Houston, which saw starting quarterback Case Keenum go down with a torn ACL and his backup, Cotton Turner, leave with a shoulder injury, produced 19 first downs and 360 yards in the loss.

The Bruins Kevin Prince still failed to impress, completing 9-of-17 passes for 99 yards and one interception; however, the rushing attack, led by sophomore Jonathan Franklin's 158 yards and three touchdowns, gashed the Cougars for 266 yards.
