Virginia Tech vs Boston College 2010 College Football Picks, 2010 College Football Odds & 2010 College Football Predictions: ACC rivals Virginia Tech and Boston College open conference play tomorrow with a 12:00pm ET meeting at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. The game can be seen live on ESPN3.com. 2010 College Football Picks, Odds & Predictions at online bookmaker BetUS.com have the Hokies listed as a -4 against the spread road favorite; the Over/Under is set at 47.
Virginia Tech's season, which is already in peril after a 1-2 start, looked to be completely lost last weekend with the Hokies
trailing East Carolina 10-0 in the first quarter. Frank Beamer's troops rebounded from the early deficit, though, and went on to win the game in decisive fashion, 49-27.
Tech got another solid outing from quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who completed 8-of-16 passes for 199 yards and two scores while leading the team to four second half touchdowns. The Hokies rushing attack had its way against the Pirates as well, amassing 249 yards on 41 rush attempts. Darren Evans, who rushed for 1265 yards as a redshirt freshman but did not play last season after tearing his ACL, carried the ball 10 times for 91 yards and one touchdown in the season saving victory.
Boston College did not play last weekend, but the team comes into this ACC tilt with a 2-0 record after wins against Weber State and Kent State. The Eagles last played on the 11th when they took out the Golden Flashes 26-13 at Alumni Stadium.
BC's offense was far from impressive in the victory, totaling just 305 yards while averaging a paltry 2.2 yards per carry. However, sophomore quarterback Dave Shinskie did play well, completing 18-of-27 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns.
The Eagles defense dominated Kent State, holding the Golden Flashes to 10 first downs and 205 yards while forcing five turnovers. BC also limited Doug Martin's squad to four rushing yards on 17 carries, making it somewhat remarkable that the Flashes found 13 points.
Boston College has won two of the last three against Virginia Tech at Alumni Stadium, but they fell to the Hokies 48-14 last season in Blacksburg. Star running back Ryan Williams, who will not play tomorrow due to a hamstring injury, rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown in the win. The Eagles managed just 10 first downs and 163 total yards for the game.
2010 College Football Picks Betting Trend: Virginia Tech is 7-1 straight up and against the spread playing as a road favorite with a spread between 4 and 7.5.
