The Tulane Green Wave will host the SMU Mustangs at the Louisiana Superdome in a live national television broadcast on CBS College Sports at 8 p.m. ET. The Green Wave is listed as an 18-point ATS favorite. While going 1-2 SU this season, Tulane has been a gamblers friend going 3-0 ATS including covers against ranked foe Alabama (+30) and East Carolina (+12). The Green Wave picked up a SU win and -5 cover last week over Louisiana-Monroe. SMU has struggled in the early going of 2008 with a 1-3 record SU and 1-2 ATS. The Mustangs got a back-door (+36 ½) point cover in its game at Texas Tech in Week-3. The SMU offense is still trying to find its way in the coach June Jones’ new system however will probably find difficulty against a very good Tulane defense. For the second straight week, the Tulane defense leads the nation in sacks with 13 for minus -83 yards. The Wave registered four sacks in the season opener at No.13 Alabama, produced five sacks against No. 14 East Carolina and finished with four sacks for minus -28 yards vs. UL-Monroe. The Ponies have dropped back-to-back games against No. 12 Texas Tech (43-7) and TCU. After putting up 74 points in its first two games, the SMU offense has managed to find the end zone just twice in its last two outings, and has been outscored 91-14. Tulane should not have much problem beating SMU SU, however; could struggle covering the double-digit point spread. We like the UNDER 49. At press time, no money line odds were available.
