UAB vs Tennessee 2010 College Football Predictions: The University of Tennessee Volunteers (SEC) college football team, under the leadership of first year head coach Derek Dooley, are a program in transition after three head coaches in three years. Currently the Vols are 1-2 on this 2010 football season. Saturday (Sept. 25) the Volunteers will host from Conference USA, the University of Alabama-Birmingham Blazers into Neyland Stadium in Knoxville on the UT campus. This game kicks off at 12:20 pm and will be televised on the SEC Network.
UAB was a 34-33 winner at home against Troy. They covered the 3 1/2-point spread as underdogs, while the combined score (67) was profitable news for OVER bettors.
QB Bryan Ellis came off the bench vs. Troy to lead the Blazer comeback. In just over two and a half quarters of action against the Trojans, Ellis threw for 360 yards and three touchdowns. He engineered a 99-yard drive in the final 1:09 with the Blazers having no timeouts remaining. With 71 yards receiving at SMU two weeks ago, senior WR Frantrell Forrest moved into third place on the UAB career receiving yardage list. Forrest now has 1,809 career receiving yards with 17 career TD receptions. QB David Isabelle ran for 214 yards in the opener vs. FAU, a C-USA record for a quarterback.
Tennessee was a 31-17 loser in their most recent outing at home against Florida. They failed to cover the 13.5-point spread as underdogs, while the total score (48) made winners of OVER bettors.
Junior Matt Simms overcame a pair of interceptions to post a career day as the Vols’ quarterback vs. Florida. He passed for 259 yards, easily surpassing his previous best of 181 against UT Martin. Simms also passed for multiple touchdowns for the first time, finding Denarius Moore on a long 49- yard play in the second quarter and Justin Hunter early in the fourth for a 35-yard score. Moore has three touchdowns this season, boosting his career total to 12. Luke Stocker had his biggest game of the season last week against Florida, leading the Vols with a team-high five catches.
Game Pick: Tennessee has plenty of improving to do before they can rejoin the SEC elite. Today's game should be just what the doctor ordered. Giving -14 is a little risky for bettors but I think the Vols will get by with it. I like the Vols -14.
