Washington rocked the college football world last week by getting the better of Pac-10 powerhouse USC at Husky Stadium in Seattle. Pete Carroll looked on in horror as kicker Eric Folk booted a 22 yard field goal with just 00:03 left on the clock, giving his protégé, Steve Sarkisian, a 16-13 win. The Huskies had just 293 yards in the victory, but quarterback Jake Locker made several clutch throws down the stretch that allowed his team to come out on top. He finished the day 21-for-35 for 237 yards. He also had a rushing touchdown, despite totaling -15 rush yards on the day.

The Husky defense forced three Trojan turnovers and frustrated USC quarterback Aaron Corp into a 13-of-22, 110 yard performance. Washington did give up 250 rush yards, but they did not allow the Trojans to convert a single third down (0-10).

Stanford, like Washington, improved to 2-1 last week after beating San Jose State 42-17 at Stanford Stadium. The Cardinal won big in spite of turning the ball over four times and committing nine penalties. They did so by pounding the ball on the ground for 211 yards (5.3 yards per carry) and converting five of their 10 third down opportunities.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Andrew Luck completed 9-of-12 passes for 170 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Running back Toby Gerhart, as he usually does, carried the team with a 24 carry, 113 yard, two touchdown showing. Gerhart now has 316 yards and four touchdowns on the season.

The Cardinal defense held the Spartans to 228 total yards and reduced their rushing attack to a 0.9 yard per carry average.

College Football Picks Betting Trend: Stanford is 4-2 against the spread and 6-0 straight up in their last six games as a home favorite with a spread between 8 and 10.5.
