2010 College Football Rankings Week 5: After a narrow escape, winning 24-20 in a top-10 matchup at Arkansas on Saturday, Alabama retained its number-1 ranking in both Associated Press and USA-Today/Coaches college football polls when released on Sunday. The Tide host Florida in a Week-5 matchup at Tuscaloosa, Ala., Saturday night. The Tide, 4-0 SU, 3-1 ATS, is already listed on the BetUS.com Week-5 board as a 9 1/2-chalk favorite to the Gators.
Both AP and USA-Today/Coaches polls were identical through the top-eight spots. Ohio State, who was impressive in scoring 73 points on Eastern Michigan, held onto the No. 2 position. The Buckeyes will begin BIG TEN play in Week-5 when they travel to play unranked Illinois. Boise State hangs onto No. 3 in both polls with Oregon and TCU rounding out the top five.
Both AP and Coaches polls agree on the next three positions with Nebraska at No. 6 followed by Florida and Oklahoma. Stanford moves into the top-10 in the AP but is holding down 13 in the Coaches poll. Wisconsin moved into the top-10 at No. 9 in the coaches polls.
Following their big nationally televised win over South Carolina, Auburn jumped to No. 10 in the AP Poll while another SEC school, LSU, jumped to 10 in the Coaches Poll followed by Auburn at 11.
At No. 12 is LSU in the AP and Utah in the Coaches. The Utes are No. 13 in the AP. Both AP and USA-Today/Coaches poll agree on Arizona at No. 14 and Arkansas No. 15. Miami(Fl) is No. 16 in the AP (17 Coaches) and Texas falls to 16 in the Coaches Poll. Iowa is No. 17 in the AP. USC is No. 18 in the AP and not eligible in the Coaches. Both polls agree on Michigan at No. 19. South Carolina dropped to No. 20 in the AP and No. 22 in the Coaches While Penn State is No. 20 in the Coaches.
North Carolina State makes is debut in the AP at No. 23 while Missouri holds the 23rd spot in the Coaches. Michigan State is No. 24 in the AP while Oklahoma State debuts in the Coaches Poll at 24. Nevada makes it into both polls for the first time since 1948 at No. 25.
