and Rice. Baylor, led by quarterback Robert Griffin III, ranks third in the FBS in scoring at 51.3 points per game. The 594 yards per game the Bears are churning also ranks third in the nation.
Griffin owns the nation's best passer rating (236.4) and he has completed an astounding 70-of-82 passes for 962 yards and 13 touchdowns. Obviously, Griffin will be the focus of the Wildcats defense this afternoon as he was when the two schools met last year in Waco.
Despite the extra attention, Griffin had a huge day against Bill Synder's work-in-progress defense. The former track star threw for 404 yards and four touchdowns in the 47-42 Baylor victory.
It would appear the 2011 Wildcats defense is much improved as they rank seventh in the country in points per game allowed (10.3). Kansas State did give up some yards and points to the Hurricanes last week, but it prevailed nonetheless, parlaying the strength of a 14-3 start to a 28-24 finish. The defense also made a tremendous stop at the end of regulation, turning back the Canes' Jacory Harris on a game winning touchdown attempt.
Baylor has won two of the last three in this series, but the Bears have never won a game at Manhattan, going 0-3 in the Little Apple. Look for the Wildcats to keep that streak intact today.
