Alabama vs. Kentucky College Football Picks: The Alabama Crimson Tide football team, ranked No. 4 in both major college football picks polls, AP and USA-Today/Coaches, travels to Lexington, Kentucky to take on the Wildcats of the University of Kentucky in an SEC battle. Alabama is 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the SEC while Kentucky is 2-1 overall with a 0-1 conference mark. College football picks oddsmakers at SBGglobal.com list Alabama as 16-chalk favorites versus Kentucky with a 47 total. SBG Global has opted to not post moneyline odds for this game. Alabama has been a solid bet for backers covering ATS in 3-of-4 board listed games. The only exception was against Florida International as a 34-chalk favorite. The Wildcats are only 1-and-2 ATS covering as a 16 1/2-chalk favorite in their season opener with Miami (Ohio) but fell short as a 13-chalk favorite against rival Louisville in week 3. Kentucky failed to cover as a +20 1/2 home dog to Florida in week 5 losing SU 7-41. Early gambling trends show the public is behind Alabama with its money by betting 90% on Alabama covering the 16-point line and 82% prefer the total to go OVER. The bottom line is Kentucky will have difficulty scoring on Alabama as the Tide might have the best defense in the nation. Defensive end Marcell Dareus has led the way for the Tide with 3.5 sacks (-25) to rank tied for 23rd in the NCAA and fourth in the SEC. Dareus also has nine tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries. Cornerback Javier Arenas is second on the team with 3.0 sacks for a loss of 31 yards to rank tied for fifth in the SEC. Middle linebacker Rolando McClain is next with two sacks for a loss of 19 yards. Greg McElroy has been impressive in his first four games as the Crimson Tide's starting quarterback, completing 67.7 percent (63 of 93) of his passes for 938 yards and seven touchdowns with only one interception. The junior boasts a 175.15 passing effi ciency rating, which ranks third nationally. In addition to rushing for 347 yards through four games this season to rank 36th nationally in rushing, Mark Ingram has added 13 receptions for 141 yard and three scores. College football picks - Alabama should dominate this game. We like the Tide to cover the 16 point line.
