Washington vs. Notre Dame College Football Picks: Who would have thought, looking at college football picks week 5, the Washington versus Notre Dame football game would be a big deal. In spite of last weeks 14-34 setback on the road against Stanford, Washington is improved greatly since the arrival of new coach Steve Sarkisian. The first signs of life came in the season opener when the Huskies gave SEC power LSU all it wanted in a 23-31 loss. After a 42-23 victory over Idaho in week 2, Washington tripped up USC 16-13 as 19 1/2-home dogs. Washington is 2-2 ATS and the Over/Under has split 2-2 in four board listed games. Notre Dame has been winning going 3-1 though not always in impressive fashion - case in point - last weeks 24-21 win at Purdue. Those perceptions changed when the Huskies defeated USC in week 4. Notre Dame, who has other tough 2009 matchups with Pac 10 members Stanford and USC, probably never expected Washington to be one of its more difficult games. After all, going 0-for-12 in 2008, certainly didn’t make the Huskies appear to be a dangerous blip on the Irish radar screen.
