The Navy Midshipmen are trying to make themselves the strongest independent team in college football this season. While most feel that Notre Dame currently holds that title, Navy is certainly making a run at it with wins over Rutgers and Wake Forest. Today the Midshipmen will get another opportunity to impress with a 3:00pm ET dust up at rival Air Force.
College football betting odds at Looselines.com have the home team Falcons favored at -4.5.
Last week Navy went into Wake Forest as a big +16.5 underdog, but they controlled the Demon Deacons from the opening kick off. The Midshipmen did what they usually do, they piled a lot of yardage up on the ground, 292 to be exact. They limited Wake to just 43 yards rushing and they picked off Riley Skinner four times. Navy also possessed the ball for nearly 37 minutes to the Demon Deacons 23:11.
Air Force is coming off a bye week after losing a close game at home to Utah on the 20th of September. The Falcons actually led the Utes 16-9 at halftime, but they yielded 21 second half points to Brian Johnson and company. Air Force made the game close by forcing three turnovers but Utah put 249 more yards in the game. The Utes also limited the Falcons ground attack to just 53 yards (1.3 yards per carry).
Despite the loss to a ranked Utah team, the Falcons are having a great season at 3-1 . They also have wins on the road at both Wyoming and Houston.
