While South Carolina was definitely on the watch-list of rising programs, Kentucky wasn’t on anybody’s radar outside the commonwealth, in spite of its multi-talented senior quarterback, Andre’ Woodson. (4-1, 2-1 SEC) would be knocking on the door at No. 11 when game day arrived on October 5
Woodson has thrown for 1,309 yards including 16 touchdowns for a 67.1 completion average. The Wildcats are averaging 46.6 points per game and 268.6 yards passing. Through five-games Woodson is every pundit’s darling, surging in Heisman chatter.
Tonight will be the Wildcats stiffest challenge of the year going against the South Carolina defense. While Kentucky has faced potent offenses, Arkansas and Louisville, neither of those programs had much to brag about in regards to their defense. South Carolina does.
Of 119 Football Bowl Subdivision programs, South Carolina is rated as the top rated pass defense nationally, however, at this point the Gamecocks have not faced a high-caliber passing offense.
