Coming off an impressive 41-21 win at No. 7 Texas on Saturday, Kansas State, winners of three in a row, will welcome their arch-rivals to Bill Snyder Family Stadium in the team’s BIG XII home-opener. The game will be broadcast regionally by FSN.
Oddsmakers at online wagering leader Betus.com , have installed the Wildcats the favorite with a -3.5 chalk and -160 on the money line. Kansas is getting +140 ml juice as the road underdog. The total is holding at 55 points.
Early betting trends show Kansas State the favorite with gamblers who have placed 86 percent of side-bets on the Wildcats and 57 percent of the early money line action also on Kansas State. The public expects the total to slip OVER the posted 55 points.
The Wildcats, who snapped a six-game losing streak in BIG XII Conference openers and also defeated a top 10 team on the road for the first time in school history, played their most complete game of the season in Austin as the offense, defense and special teams units all figured prominently in the win. Against the Longhorns, the Wildcats scored touchdowns on a kickoff return, a punt return and an interception return, marking the first time in school history a K-State team has done such.
The Jayhawks have outscored their opposition, 214-23 , through four home games and currently rank among the nation’s best in both offensive and defensive categories after their non-conference wins. Kansas is holding its opposition to 218 yards of total offense a game and just 5.75 points a contest while averaging 552 yards and 53.5 points a game on offense. Quarterback Todd Reesing has paced the offense with 1,199 yards and 11 touchdowns through the air, while five receivers have recorded multiple touchdown receptions.
