Week-7 of the college football season gets an early start with a Wednesday night nationally televised (ESPN) battle between the Pitt Panthers and Navy Midshipmen at Heinz field in Pittsburgh. Oddsmakers at online sport betting giant Betus.com have installed the Panthers a -4 ½ point favorite for the game. Kick-off is set for 8 p.m. ET.

The Midshipmen will travel to Pittsburgh well rested from their previous game, a 31-20 victory over Air Force at Annapolis on September 29. Navy (3-2) will be looking to extend its winning streak to three while the Pitt would like to end its current three-game skid losing to Michigan State, Connecticut and Virginia. Pitt also enjoyed a bye last having played on Sept. 29.

Pitt has endured significant setbacks in the health department this season with several prominent players going down with long-term or season-ending injuries. In the opening week of training camp, returning All-Big East receiver Derek Kinder suffered a torn right anterior cruciate ligament. A Biletnikoff semifinalist in 2006, Kinder will receive a redshirt and return in 2008. Pitt’s original starting quarterback, junior Bill Stull, has been out indefinitely since injuring the thumb on his right (throwing) hand in the Panthers’ season-opening victory over Eastern Michigan. His return to action this year is uncertain.

Replacing Stull under center is true freshman Pat Bostic who will be starting his fourth straight game. After three starts, all losses, Bostic has completed 45-of-73 passes for 411 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions. His game average in yards passing is 137. In five games played, Pitt is averaging scoring 20.4 points per game while giving up 21.6 points per game.

The Midshipmen once again, are thriving behind their option attack, as they are averaging an impressive 348.4 rushing ypg on the season. The team has scored 16 touchdowns on the ground and that has played the biggest part in it averaging a solid 32.4 ppg for the year. In the squad's last game, Navy rolled up 381 total yards of offense, including 302 via the run, in a 31-20 victory over Air Force. Quarterback Kaipo-Noa Kaheaku-Enhada led the way with 101 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 15 totes. For the year, Kaheaku-Enhada leads the Mids' ground attack with 414 yards and seven touchdowns.

Sportswagering leader Bodog (Bodoglife.com) is offering Pitt with a money line price of -175 and is giving Navy +155 ml juice.
