College Football Point Spreads 2011 Week 7: It was a tremendous week for the top 10, which went 9-0 straight up and against the spread while winning by an average of 34.3 points per game. There are several potential blowouts in the offing this weekend with top tier teams such as Oklahoma, Alabama, Boise State, and Wisconsin facing lesser conference foes, but which of those teams have the best opportunity to cover what are huge spreads?
No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide vs Mississippi Rebels (+25): Ole Miss earned its second win of the season on October 1st,
beating a suspect Fresno State squad 38-28. The Rebels had a bye last weekend, giving them more time to prepare for the second ranked Crimson Tide. Unfortunately for Head Coach Houston Nutt, his team could focus on Alabama for a month and it would not matter, Nick Saban's squad is just that much better. Sure, the Rebels offense has shown some flashes against lesser defenses (i.e. Southern Illinois, Fresno State), but when challenged by schools like Georgia and Vanderbilt, it wilted. Just imagine what it will do this weekend against the Crimson Tide.
No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners vs Kansas Jayhawks (+35): If the Sooners wanted to score 100 in this game, they could. Kansas defense ranks dead last in the FBS in both yards (556) and points (49.4) per game allowed. No. 6 Oklahoma State called off the dogs against the Jayhawks on Saturday after it had posted 49 points midway through the second quarter. Oklahoma's offense may not be the equal of Oklahoma State's crew, but it certainly rivals it. Typically a 35 point spread seems scary, but not in this one. The only way Kansas covers this thing is through the back door, but it is hard to get through the rear entrance when you cannot see it. Get $50 in Free CFB Picks Here.
