Texas Tech improved to 4-2 last weekend with an epic beatdown against the Kansas State Wildcats in Lubbock. The Red 
Raiders posted an eye popping 739 yards and 33 first downs in the 66-14 win over Bill Synder's beleaguered squad. Junior quarterback Steven Sheffield looked like Graham Harrell filling in for injured starter Taylor Potts. Sheffield completed 33-of-41 passes for 490 yards and seven touchdowns.
Potts is on the road to recovery after suffering a concussion against New Mexico, but Sheffield will get his second career start on Saturday.
The Cornhuskers worked their record to 4-1 by overcoming the Missouri Tigers 27-12 in a rain-soaked affair in Columbia on October 10th. Nebraska looked to be headed to certain defeat, trailing the Tigers 12-0 at the end of three quarters, but two costly picks by Mizzou's Blaine Gabbert got them right back in the game. Bo Pelini's squad converted those turnovers into quick points and walked away with the victory, despite posting just 263 yards of offense.
The Huskers defense, in addition to the big picks, stymied the Tigers offense all night. The Ndamukong Suh led group held Missouri to 225 yards and a 2.6 yards per carry average.
Bo Pelini, while pleased with the win and the performance of his defense, feels the offense will need to step it against Texas Tech.
"The bottom line is we have to score points," Pelini said. "You're not going to shutout this team. We need to match them."
