No. 7 Auburn ran its record to 6-0 last weekend, beating the Kentucky Wildcats 37-34 in Lexington. The Tigers appeared to be in cruise control going into the break as they held a 31-17 halftime lead; however, the Wildcats scored 14 unanswered points in the third quarter to set up a dramatic finish.
Heisman candidate Cam Newton did not have one of his better days throwing the ball, completing just 13-of-21 passes for 210 yards and one interception, but he was brilliant running the ball. Newton pummeled Kentucky for 198 rush yards and four touchdowns on 28 carries.
Auburn's defense, which is giving up an average of 240.3 yards per game through the air (ranks 91st in the FBS), gave up 336 yards and 24 first downs to Mike Hartline and the Wildcats offense.
Arkansas has won the last two in this rivalry series, including last year's 44-23 victory in Fayetteville. The Razorbacks have also won three of the last four at Jordan-Hare Stadium, the last loss coming by a score of 20-38 in 2004.
