College Football Predictions 2011 Week 7: While there are not a large number of pivotal top 25 showdowns this weekend, Saturday's action should prove intriguing with several teams looking to validate their lofty status. Among the squads looking to earn a little respect are the Kansas State Wildcats, Illinois Fighting Illini, and Arizona State Sun Devils. Each will get their chance tomorrow, but as the saying goes…be careful what you wish for.
No. 17 Kansas State Wildcats vs Texas Tech Red Raiders (-3.5): So, what has Kansas State done this season? Well, it has 
posted a perfect 5-0 record despite being a dog in its last three games. The Wildcats wins over Miami, Baylor, and Missouri meant little to the odds makers and the betting public, though. Bill Synder's bunch opened as a 3.5 point dog to Texas Tech and the number has stayed there all week long. Perhaps the lack of flashy names has people worried that K-State is about to do a major face plant. No. 18 Arizona State vs No. 9 Oregon (-14): The Ducks, despite a season opening loss to LSU, have little to prove, everyone knows what they are about; however, the Sun Devils still have some work to do in order to gain the kind of respect that Oregon already enjoys. Arizona State was touted by many as a candidate to win the new Pac 12 South Division, and it looks well on its way to wrapping up that title, but most still consider the team a step below its Northern counterparts Stanford and Oregon. A sloppy week three road loss at Illinois only bolstered the argument against ASU being on equal footing with the Cardinal and Ducks. Nevertheless, the Sun Devils can put that perception to rest tomorrow night with a win, even if the Ducks are without LaMichael James.
