Pitt vs. Rutgers College Football Picks -The University of Pittsburgh football team will travel to Piscataway, N.J. to face the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in a Friday night ESPN televised college football game with kick-off set for 8 pm ET.
Many pundits thought Rutgers would be a contender for the 2009 BIG EAST Conference football crown; until that 15-47 ambush to Cincinnati at home on opening day (Sep. 7). Since then, Rutgers has peeled off four straight wins, although versus questionable opposition – two wins vs. FCS programs Howard and Texas Southern, a win over Sun Belt (non-BCS) member Florida International and struggling Maryland of the ACC.
Pitt, the pre-season BIG EAST No.1 pick of most pundits has lived up to expectations and leads the league, along with Cincinnati, with no conference losses. The only blemish on Pitts record is a 31-38 road loss at ACC member NC State in week 4. Overall the Panthers are 5-1, including impressive conference wins over Louisville and Connecticut.
Although Pitt leads the all-time series 19-7, Rutgers has won four straight games vs. the Panthers, the longest winning streak in school history for RU in the series. Last season, Rutgers stopped No. 17 Pitt on the road 54-34 at Heinz Field.
