South Carolina improved to 5-1 last Saturday and jumped to No. 22 in the polls by beating Kentucky 28-26 in Columbia. The win was the second of the season for Steve Spurrier's squad against an SEC foe and it left them in second place in the SEC East behind the Florida Gators. The Gamecocks only loss this year came on the road against Georgia when they fell in week two 37-41 at Sanford Stadium.

South Carolina would have to feel good about their chances against Alabama if they can duplicate the 37 points they put up on the road against the Dawgs. Spurrier, however, is not counting on that against a defense that is giving up just 12.5 points per game.

"I think they're just going to come play their defense and come have a go at us and see what we can do," Spurrier said.

Alabama won its third consecutive conference game last weekend, drubbing Ole' Miss 22-3 in Oxford. The decisive victory improved the Tide to 6-0 and put them a game up over LSU in the SEC West standings.

The Rebels managed just 12 first downs and 212 total yards against Alabama's formidable defense as quarterback Jevan Snead completed just 11-of-35 passes and threw four interceptions.

At this point the Crimson Tide look so good, it would appear as if their biggest challenge is staying focused and motivated.

"We cannot get complacent because that is the key to the whole drill," Saban said. "The passion to want to do it, the passion to stay with it, the passion to continue to go through the grind, and there are numerous teams every week that have a difficult time with that and don't play well."

College Football Odds Betting Trend: South Carolina is 7-2-1 against the spread in their last 10 games as a road dog versus an SEC foe.
