To the TCU faithful, the Horned Frogs football team has been a bit disappointing in 2007. The Frogs have lost three of their seven games played, two of which came against conference foe Air Force and Wyoming. Entering tonight’s game with Utah, the Horned Frogs are tied for sixth-place with the Utes in the Mountain West Conference standings, each team with a 1-2 conference mark. A loss tonight will practically kill any chance either team has in winning the Mountain West Conference championship.
Utah (4-3, 1-2 MWC) has picked up some momentum since their season low-point, a 27-0 shut out loss at UNLV back in week 4. The Utes have been impressive in defeating Louisville Oct. 5 on the road and dominated San Diego State at home last week. Utah has covered two straight ATS.
TCU picked up a needed win at Stanford last week, a win that has a more impressive look since the Cardinal upset of then No. 1 USC two weeks ago.
Oddsmakers at BetOnline.com currently have the Horned Frogs listed as 3½-point favorites versus the Utes, while the game's total is sitting at 48.
Current betting trends show the public favoring the underdog with 70 percent of money line and 53 percent of side bets placed on the Utes. Betting on the total is split 50 percent OVER-UNDER on the posted 48.
The Utes scored 14 points in the third quarter of Week 7, and went on to defeat the San Diego State Aztecs 23-7. The Utes covered the 14-point spread at home, but the 30 points were UNDER the posted total of 55.
TCU outscored Stanford 14-5 in the fourth quarter of Week 7's 38-36 win, failing to cover the 6-point road spread. The 74 points scored were OVER the posted total of 47.
Andy Dalton threw for 344 yards and two touchdowns, and Aaron Brown added 146 combined yards and a score for the Horned Frogs.
